Student Digital Capability Discovery Tool

Following on from the recent release of a staff Digital Capability Discovery Tool, the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching are pleased to announce we now have a student version of the tool, which is available to use.

This is an important agenda for the University as it is estimated that, in 20 years time, 90% of all jobs will require people to work with digital technologies and it is reported that 72% of large firms struggle to recruit workers with digital skills. The University has made a commitment within its TEL Strategy to help develop digital capabilities in both staff and students. The ﷟HYPERLINK “https://jisc.potential.ly/signin”Discovery Tool is an important part of delivering this promise.

As with the staff tool, students will be able to reflect upon their digital capabilities through a series of questions, receive a personalised report based on their answers and access resources, which can help them to develop their skills further as well as request a digital badge.

Communications to students about the tool are planned, including adverts on atrium screens, computer screensavers, within Course Resources and in UDo.

However, we need your help to promote this tool to students where possible. To assist with this, here is a brief communication, which could be sent out via Course Resources or on social media.

Did you know it is predicted that 90% of all jobs will require people to work with digital technologies?  Review your digital skills using the Discovery Tool, think about how to develop them further and earn a digital badge #digitalconfidence #digitalderby
