Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) Review

Blackboard Learn, the University’s VLE, has been used at Derby for 12 years. Over that time, it has become a sector leading implementation with relatively high usage and a number of third party integrations and customisations such as Panopto, Turnitin and PebblePad. To align with the principles and pillars of our Strategic Framework and deliver our Digital Learning Vision, a review of the system is required to ensure that our digital infrastructure is suitable to meet the needs of staff and students for the next 10 years. CELT are conducting the review to provide evidence and recommendations for a future system that meets the objectives of the University and enables it to maintain a sector lead in digital teaching and learning provision.

We are in phase one of the review where we are gathering evidence and feedback from colleagues about their use of Blackboard and the changes or features they would like to see in the future. There are several ways to engage with this including a survey (https://staffinsights2019.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/dei_staff_1819), by email (vlereview@derby.ac.uk) or just dropping in to chat with the team in B112. Your opinions are really valuable and will form a large part of the evidence for the review.
