Active media in teaching to apply real-world learning

By Charlotte Gregory-Ellis (Learning Technology Media Adviser)

Creating media content to use within your teaching is a fantastic way to enhance your students’ learning experience. Multimedia resources can be added in several diverse ways, and we have a range of examples you can find with the ‘using video and media in learning and teaching‘ guide.

However, how do you ensure this is an active rather than a passive learning experience for your students? An effective way is to use media as part of activities that your students can complete to help them understand and apply their prior learning, allowing them to reflect and analyse. Following the activities, students can be given the opportunity to feed-back to the group about how they have applied their learning.
