By Dr Chris Ribchester (Associate Professor)
The previous URSS blog highlighted different research groups around the University who have expressed interest an interest in supporting and supervising student research projects this year. Please do look at the blog if you haven’t already – it could be that this existing research activity will act as inspiration for your own project idea.
We’ve also received many project suggestions from lecturers, drawing on their current or past research experiences. All of these ideas are connected to one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals and have been summarised in this Padlet.
As you can see, the ideas are split between the two funding streams. The projects listed for Stream 2 often also identify the specific country or countries that it focuses on.
You’ll also see that each project is linked to at least one staff member. Feel free to contact them if you have any questions. You may not know the member of staff and they may not even teach on your programme of study, but don’t let this put you off – for some of you the URSS will provide an opportunity to use your skills in a new subject area, whilst giving you the chance to gain new insights from a different academic discipline. If you have any questions about the URSS, please email: urss@derby.ac.uk.
